Stepping Out!

ree

Yesterday I led my 3rd or 4th Hot Power Yoga class at The Yoga Loft (Suamico). Hot Power Yoga is a style of yoga that has been outside of my comfort zone to lead.

After the last hot power class I led I asked for feedback from the yogis - I was so nervous this day and doubted myself throughout the entire class!

This week was different! Taking that feedback and really understanding what students are looking for in hot power yog helped me prep for the class yesterday. I was excited and had fun throughout the class... it felt great internally! I knew in my heart I brought what the yogis were looking for!

Then the class ended and they clapped (I blush when this happens) and complimented the flow. This was a bonus to how I was already feeling!

I was also feeling appreciation for one yogi who has taken hot power yoga with me before and was one that gave me feedback previously. I acknowledged her and thanked her for helping me and for coming back to my class. She shared how she felt about the class flow and how it challenged her 🥰 which led my excitement for this class to continue to grow!

Leading this class took my outside of my comfort zone, it was an opportunity to learn and grow - to challenge myself!

As I reflected on this class and feeling yesterday - it hit me... that is what yoga is all about! It takes us out of our comfort zone and leads us to growth! We challenge our selves each time we step on our mat to listen to what we need, bring awareness to our mind, body, spirit, to challenge ourselves physically through the poses and mentality by how we talk to ourselves, and to step outside our comfort zone each time - whether it's the very first time on the mat or we have been there hundreds of times - each time is different- each class is different! It's such an amazing and empowering feeling.

This class was also a great example of how yoga teachers also grow and learn from their students. We aren't just teachers we are also here to learn from you! Thank you to all yogis whom have attended one of my classes (or several!).

One thing (of the many things) I love about yoga is the variety of styles and teachers! There is something for every one! Whether it's hot power yoga, gentle slow flow or restorative yoga! There is something for you!

I encourage you to step out ... challenge yourself... have you been wanting to try yoga? Challenge yourself to take that step!

Are you a regular student? Challenge yourself to try a different class style or continue to practice that pose that you just don't like!

“Yoga is not a work-out; it is a work-in. And this is the point of spiritual practice, to make us teachable, to open up our hearts, and focus our awareness so that we can know what we already know and be who we already are.” — Rolf Gates
